  • Kavin Raj, MD

    Kavin Raj, MD

    Hometown: Madras
    Medical School: Kilpauk Medical College
Residency: Saint Peter University Hospital/Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson-NJ
Cardiology Fellowship: University of California Riverside SOM, San bernardino

Favorite aspects of the program: I chose UC San Diego for its collegial faculty and strong reputation for hands-on training. The program is widely recognized for providing fellows with extensive procedural experience, as they spend the majority of their time in the electrophysiology lab—an essential component for developing confidence and proficiency as a proceduralist. Additionally, UCSD offers excellent opportunities for clinical research in electrophysiology, supported by highly engaged and supportive attending physicians.

Career interests: My goal is to become a confident and competent electrophysiologist with strong procedural skills and a deep understanding of complex arrhythmias. I also intend to continue pursuing outcomes-based research in electrophysiology. With a passion for teaching fellows and medical students, I aspire to work in an academic environment where I can contribute to both clinical care and education.
Research interests:I have a strong interest in complex survey data analysis using large databases such as HCUP and TriNetX to address clinically meaningful questions. With a background in biostatistics, I often collaborate with other researchers by assisting with the analytical components of their projects. Currently, our team is investigating the impact of cannabis use on arrhythmias and evaluating the safety of leadless pacemakers. I look forward to advancing my knowledge in biostatistics and contributing to randomized studies that aim to answer important questions in the field of electrophysiology.
