Mahmud Research Group
As Division Chief of UC San Diego Cardiology and Director of Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Ehtisham Mahmud and his team of interventional cardiologists are active in research and clinical trials related to Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Interventional procedures.
The Mahmud Group is engaged in Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine research including preclinical investigation, outcomes studies, and clinical trials. Clinical trials focus on early feasibility studies and investigational devices for cardiovascular and structural heart interventions. The group also collaborates with other investigators in the Cardiovascular Institute, the Department of Medicine and the Department of Bioengineering.
Dr. Mahmud is actively collaborating with Dr. Catriona Jamieson on the UC San Diego Health CIRM Alpha Stem Cell Clinic. The group has also collaborated with Dr. Karen Christman on CIRM grants related to the use of injectable biomaterial for treating acute myocardial infarction and peripheral artery disease.
